Croc Hop is made by Grinface, an individual developer. This policy explains exactly what the game collects, why, and how to get rid of it. It is written from what the code actually does.
The short version. The only ads are ones you choose to watch for a reward - a video never plays by itself. They come from Google AdMob, and Google's ads library is the one part of the game that reads your advertising ID; it is described in full below. Apart from that there are no analytics and no trackers, and nothing is sold. What Croc Hop itself keeps is a score, a name you chose, and whatever you decided to put on your profile.
| What | Why | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| An account ID | A random number the app makes on your device the first time it runs. It is how your score finds its way back to you. It is not linked to you, your phone, or any other app. | Yes |
| A player name | Shown on the leaderboard. One is generated for you; you can change it to anything you like. | Yes |
| Your country | Worked out from your connection when you post a score, and shown as a flag next to your name. Country only - never a city, and the app has no location permission. | Yes |
| A profile picture | Only if you choose one from your gallery. It is shown to other players next to your name. | No |
| Game progress | Scores, coins, items you own and wear, friends, duel results, daily goals and total time played. A score the server refuses because the game could not have produced it is noted too, so cheating can be spotted; it is erased with your account. | Yes |
| Rewarded ad records | Only when you watch an ad for a reward: which reward it was, when, and the number Google gives that viewing, so each reward is paid once. Erased with your account. | No |
| Bug reports | Only what you type, if you use the report screen. | No |
| Crash reports | If the game crashes it writes down what went wrong and sends it the next time you open it: the error, the version, your phone model and your Android version. No name, no picture, no score. | Yes |
| A Google account link | Only if you use Settings → Sign in with Google, which nothing in the game requires. What is stored is a single number Google gives us that means "this is the same person as last time". It is specific to Croc Hop: it is not your email, it cannot be used to contact you, and it is meaningless to any other app or service. It exists so a new phone can get your account back. | No |
Croc Hop shows rewarded ads only: a short video you start yourself, by tapping a gold button, in return for coins, another try at the daily course or a mystery box. There are no banners and no ads that interrupt a game.
They are served by Google AdMob. Google's ads library, which is part of the app, collects on its own behalf:
Google uses these to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud; this is covered by Google's own policy, How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. It is all encrypted in transit.
When you watch one, Croc Hop tells Google two things so Google can confirm the viewing to our server: your Croc Hop account ID (the random number above) and which reward it is for. Never your name, picture or scores.
Your choices. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland the game asks for your consent with Google's own form before any ad is loaded, and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Ad privacy. Anywhere, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads). Watching is always a choice: nothing in the game requires an ad. Note that the ads library starts with the game and loads ads in advance, so what is listed above reaches Google even if you never watch one.
Croc Hop asks for four permissions and uses all four: internet, vibration, notifications (only to tell you a friend has challenged you), and permission to restart its check for challenges after your phone reboots. Google's ads library adds the ones it uses itself: access to the advertising ID (and Android's newer ad-privacy equivalents of it), network state, and keeping its own background work running.
Nothing is sold, rented, or handed to data brokers or analytics companies. Two companies are involved:
Google, for the ads, as described above - Google collects that data itself, under its own policy. Google also runs the optional Sign in with Google, and Google Play's own rating window, which Croc Hop may show once and which sends nothing to us.
Cloudflare, which hosts the server and the database. They are a processor acting on our instructions, not a recipient of your data for their own purposes. Data is stored in their network and is encrypted in transit; every connection the game makes is HTTPS.
What other players can see is only what appears in the game: your name, your flag, your score, your picture if you set one, and your rank.
What Croc Hop keeps, for as long as your account exists. Delete it and it is gone immediately - we keep no backup copy from which a deleted account could be restored. Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs for a short period as part of running the service; these are not linked to your account. What Google's ads library collects is kept by Google under its own policy.
In the game: gear button on the main menu, then Delete my account, then confirm. It happens immediately.
Or from anywhere: crochop.com/delete - including if you have already uninstalled the game or lost the phone.
You can also change your name or remove your picture at any time from inside the game, without deleting anything else.
Croc Hop is not directed at children under 13. It lets players choose a picture from their own gallery and shows names on a public leaderboard, which is why it is not in Google Play's Designed for Families programme and should not be used by younger children. Its ads are general-audience ads, not ads made for children.
Depending on where you live you may have the right to see what is held about you, to correct it, or to have it erased. Deletion is built into the game and needs no request. For anything else, write to us and we will answer within 30 days.
If the game starts collecting something new, this page changes on the same day, and the date at the top changes with it.
